A perfect day

I'm always quick to fill in a 'free day' with things I've wanted to do and places I've wanted to go - fun adventures I've played out in my day dreams during quiet moments in the office. The weekend was one of those days. After a friend's gorgeous wedding on Saturday, we were content to sleep in on Sunday in our lovely accommodation at Seaport (Peppers is pretty nice at a reasonable price, although I always feel a little cheated by split king sized beds), and meander downstairs for a simple casual breakfast.

Full bellies, windows down and sun on our faces, there are few things that make me happier than being behind the wheel, travelling on some of Tassie's best roads in my favourite machine.

We headed East, stopping to have pancakes at Mount Elephant Pancake Parlour, and to take a few pics of the view.

Such a gorgeous part of the world.

Remembrance Day

93 years ago, Germany signed the Armistice which ended World War 1. The year was 1918, and people around the world on that day since stand silent for one minute at 11am to remember those who fought in those battles; especially those who did not come home.

On days like today, it is irrelevant if you believe in the wars our countrymen have served in, or not. Most were there by conscription in WW1, and all Australians will agree that the spirit of those who fought in WW1, and the wars since, lives on in all of us, as the Aussie battler, the good mate, and a country of people who will always lend a hand and cheer on the underdog.

My family was lucky back in those days, and I have no immediate relatives who were sent to war. Because I do not have that family connection, I try extra hard to take the time to remember those families which were not so lucky.

It is also important on days like today to remind ourselves that there are still many Australians, who are away from their families, engaged in war. There are many people around the world who live their lives in warzones, uncertain of their future. And it is also important to remember that every person we cross paths with are fighting their own battles too.

Lest we forget.

Wiped clean for something new

Wait - what's this?! Blank?! Yep :) So much has changed since I was last regularly posting here, so I decided to wipe it clean and start again. There's something scary, and amazing, about new beginnings - and I've always loved that moment.

For the past few months I have been living my life in a bit of limbo, but now I have change and direction and newness and all sorts of other awesome things; I'm looking forward to sharing it with the world.
